UoN COVID-19 VACCINATION ROLL-OUT

The University Health Services has now been registered as a COVID-19 Vaccination Centre by the Ministry of Health and the Nairobi County Government, through the Nairobi Metropolitan Services.

The Vaccination will commence on Thursday April 8, 2021 at 8.30AM outside of the Main Students Clinic. It should be noted that the University Vaccination Centre will be required to observe Government prioritization guidelines and to comply with COVID-19 health protocols. In this regard, the following categories of the priority target groups will be eligible:

AMR HAND'S ON PRACTICAL TRAINING

Through Kenya’s Fleming Fund grant, a training organized by International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) working with the Directorate of Veterinary Services to microbiology technical staff in the department of Veterinary Pathology Microbiology & Parasitology. UoN-FVM on March 1st -4th 2021.The training focused on laboratory aspects of quality assurance to increase the ability of the lab to produce reliable, relevant and timely test results which can be interpreted correctly.

POULTRY SAMPLING TRAINING

Departmental Microbiology Technical team through Fleming Fund Country project trained on proper poultry sampling protocols to ensure delivery of quality samples to the laboratories and achieve accurate laboratory results. This was facilitated by the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Washington State University together with Directorate of Veterinary Services to strengthen AMR surveillance for the livestock sector, on behalf of the PATH-led Consortium with the aim of strengthening AMR surveillance for the livestock sector.
 

BIORISK MANAGEMENT SEMINAR

Departmental Microbiology Technical team trained on biorisk management from 15th – 19th February 2021 in Naivasha under the Fleming Fund Country Grant through International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and Washington State University (WSU) working with the Directorate of Veterinary Services (DVS). The team was trained on the concepts of Laboratory Biosafety and Biosecurity including Field Biosecurity to strengthen AMR surveillance for the livestock sector.

THE WOMEN’S ECONOMIC FORUM 2021

The inaugural women’s economic forum took place on 24th and 25th February 2021 and sought to advance the empowerment of women through panel discussions, networking and keynote addresses from high-ranking government officials, development partners and industry leaders. This year’s forum tackled six thematic areas including Agribusiness, Manufacturing and Value Addition, Financial Access, Technology and Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Tax and Policy Regimens.

COVID 19 CHAMPIONS TRAINING

The Office of the Dean of Students and Career Services in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO)'s UHS-ICEC Section would like us to train 300 Covid-19 Champions from six colleges (50 from each college x 6 colleges) on Thursday 25 February 2021 from 10.00am.
