DRUG CHALLENGES IN HEALTH AND HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

The University of Nairobi (UoN) joined the world in commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADA) on 24th June, 2022

The virtual event was held under the theme: Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis.

In his address, UoN Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama said the issue of alcohol and drug abuse is a reality at the University affecting both staff and students posing a risk to their livelihoods.

UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI FOUNDATION PRE-LAUNCH

It was pomp and colour at the University of Nairobi Foundation pre-launch dinner hosted at the Great Court on Thursday 24th Juneal 2022 evening.

The dinner was hosted ahead of the official launch of the University of Nairobi Foundation slated for 30th June, 2022. The event was aimed at raising awareness of the existence of the Foundation as well as mobilizing resources for its seed fund.

It brought together distinguished guests as well as key stakeholders to raise the seed capital for the University of Nairobi Foundation.

MEDIA SUPPORT TOWARDS UON FOUNDATION CAMPAIGN

The Nation Media Group has offered media support worth Ksh. 2M to the UoN Foundation. This was revealed when the Vice Chancellor of the University of Nairobi Prof. Stephen Kiama Gitahi paid a courtesy call to the CEO of  NMG - Mr. Stephen Gatagama and apprised him on the ongoing initiative of raising seed capital for the University of Nairobi Foundation.

VARSITY SCORED EXCELLENT IN ITS CORE MANDATE

The University of Nairobi was ranked top in the Country after it scored excellent in its core mandate of teaching and learning  among other State Corporations in Kenya.

This was announced through a report by the Public Service Performance Management Unit (PPMU) for the Financial Year 2020/2021.

Among the first 10 corporations in the Country, the University led with a score of 0.8 while the National Irrigation Authority came 2nd with an aggregate of 0.84.
