WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2022 COMMEMORATION

The University Health Services has organized for the commemoration of the 2022 World Mental Health Day in tandem with the World Health Organization (WHO) calendar.

The 2022 (WHO) theme is “Making Mental Health and Well-being for all a Global Priority”. 

The event will be marked by various health promotion activities on Friday October 7, 2022 in the Chancellors Court from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.

AMR SURVEILLANCE ASSESSMENT IN ANIMAL HEALTH

Microbiology laboratory in our Department undertook an assessment of AMR surveillance in Animal Health alongside other Regional and Central Veterinary diagnostic laboratories in the country. The assessment was conducted by representatives from Fleming Fund, International livestock research institute (ILRI), and Directorate of Veterinary Services DVS) on 26th /7/2022.

UON PARTNERSHIP ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT

Wednesday, July 6, 2022: The Principal Secretary, State Department for Public Works (SDPW) Mr. Solomon Kitungu toured the Faculty of Built Environment and Design for a demonstration of the ceramic toilet (Ngisi Toilet Project) designed and developed by a research team from the Department of Art and Design. The delegation from the State Department for Public Works was received by the university management team led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama, The Dean, Faculty of Built Environment and Design, Prof. Robert Rukwaro, the Chairman of the Department of Art and Design Dr.

UON WEE HUB ADOPTS PRIORITY AGENDA 2022-2025

Tuesday July 5, 2022; the delegates officially adopted the 12 point priority agenda for Women Economic empowerment (WEE) 2022-2025, The Chief Guest Associate Vice Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise Prof. Margaret Hutchinson unveiled the Priority Agenda for Women Economic Empowerment and rallied the women delegates to take positions of leadership and decision making as well as be part of resource mobilization, distribution and utilization; saying “this agenda is informed by research and its going to liberate the African woman.

UoN FOUNDATION OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED

The University of Nairobi officially launched the University of Nairobi Foundation on Thursday, 30th June 2022 at 5:30PM at the Great Court. The Foundation is part of the reform agenda the University is implementing aimed at transforming the University into a vibrant, relevant and sustainable University. This Launch marks the first step of a journey of great transformation and impact for the University.

DRUG CHALLENGES IN HEALTH AND HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

The University of Nairobi (UoN) joined the world in commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADA) on 24th June, 2022

The virtual event was held under the theme: Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis.

In his address, UoN Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama said the issue of alcohol and drug abuse is a reality at the University affecting both staff and students posing a risk to their livelihoods.

UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI FOUNDATION PRE-LAUNCH

It was pomp and colour at the University of Nairobi Foundation pre-launch dinner hosted at the Great Court on Thursday 24th Juneal 2022 evening.

The dinner was hosted ahead of the official launch of the University of Nairobi Foundation slated for 30th June, 2022. The event was aimed at raising awareness of the existence of the Foundation as well as mobilizing resources for its seed fund.

It brought together distinguished guests as well as key stakeholders to raise the seed capital for the University of Nairobi Foundation.
