The Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology has organized a Webinar on “Community Participation in One Health Research” on Wednesday, 10th May 2023 at 14.00 – 15.00 EAT.  

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH VISIT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GLASGOW

The research visit at the University of Glasgow, Scotland UK, facilitated by the Everyday Clean project under the One Health Initiative. The project is collaborative research between University of Glasgow, International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) and University of Nairobi that aims to explore hygiene practices in semi urban population of Kware community in Kajiado, County Kenya.

EMBU COUNTY SIGNS PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT WITH UON

The University of Nairobi signed a partnership agreement with Embu County government on 22nd December, 2022.

Speaking during the signing ceremony, the University of Nairobi Vice Chancellor Prof. Kiama Gitahi, observed that the University values partnerships.

‘’As a University we would like to add value to our partners. Our department of plant science has been collaborating with Embu County in the field of value addition in agricultural produce” Prof. Kiama said.

The University established fresh produce aggregation centre at Karurumo in Embu County in 2018.

Students conduct practical experiments in Toxicity studies

Students from the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology had the opportunity to conduct extensive practical experiments in Toxicity studies on Paragon Insecticidal spray formulation.

Toxicity studies in the animal models are done to determine the dose level recommended for the treatment of disease. Toxicity testing is paramount in the screening of newly developed drugs before it can be used on animals.

Veterinary Medicine Students Celebrate 2019 BVM Finalists Dinner

The fifth-year Veterinary students celebrated their 2019 dinner at the Department of Clinical Studies. Such special gatherings are present an invaluable opportunity for students to meet and network with their lecturers and alumni.
