CAPACITY BUILDING WEBINAR FOR RESEARCHERS ON E-BOOKS AND E-JOURNALS

The Library has organized for TWO trainings on Thursday, Feb 11, 2021 10:00 AM on REMOTE ACCESS TO E-BOOKS & E-JOURNALS and Friday, Feb 12, 2021 10:00 AM on ORCID and GOOGLE SCHOLAR.

 

Objective of the training: 

Equip participants with knowledge and skills of accessing E-RESOURCES remotely as well as ORCID and GOOGLE SCHOLAR that facilitate visibility of research and the researcher.

 

ONLINE AND ON-CAMPUS FIRST SEMESTER EXAM KICKS OFF

The Department of Vet. Pathology have started conducting online exam for the theory exams and also face to face practical exams to BVM II, III,  and IV students. 

Also in the faculty of Vet. Medicine students undertaking Bachelor of Fisheries, Wildlife Management and Leather Science and have also started their online and on-campus exams.

The on-campus exams are being undertaken observing the Covid-19 measures to ensure the safety for both students and the staff.

UNIVERSITY CONTINUES TO RANK TOP REGIONALLY

Over the years, the University of Nairobi has been ranked among the top universities in Africa and the world.

On whichever platform be it Times Higher Education (THE) Ranking or Webometrics that has been consistently releasing results, the University of Nairobi has continued to stay in the top 10% bracket.

Recently, the Webometrics ranking released in January 2021 placed the UoN at Position 1 in Kenya and East Africa, Position 13 in Africa, and 1052 in a total of over 30,000 universities ranked globally.

DONATION OF LCD PROJECTORS BY THE BVM CLASS OF 1980

Representative of the BVM Class of 1980 visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on Friday January 22, 2021 and donated two LCD Projectors for use by both faculty and students. The donation was in commemoration of the University of Nairobi’s 50 years cerebration, from July 2020 to June 2021. TheUniversity of Nairobi was formed in July 1970, following the dissolution of the Umiversity of East Africa.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION DONATES HAND WASHING STATIONS

The University of Nairobi Alumni Association handed   over six handwashing stations worth Kenya Shillings 461, 606 to the University to help in the containment of covid-19.  The stations are a welcome gesture in the university’s fight against Covid-19 even as the University prepares to recall all students for on campus learning.

While handing over the equipment, the Associations’ vice chairperson Dr. Anne Assey said they are working towards getting more members on board so as to increase their scope and benefits to the university.

DEPARTMENT WELCOMES 2020/2021 BVM II STUDENTS FOR ON CAMPUS LEARNING

The chairman, Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology & Parasitology held a meeting in the Large Pathology Lecture Theatre on Wednesday 13th January 2021 starting at 2.00pm. The meeting was to welcome the BVM 2 students who reported on Monday 11th January 2021 for face to face interactions.

TREE PLANTING EXERCISE

The Principal CAVS, Prof. R. Nyikal, Director WMI, Prof. D. Mungai, Dean of Students/Director Career Services, Mr. Johnson Kinyua, Mr. John M. Mwangi, CEO, Workmate Green Solutions and Mr. Simon Nderitu, Sequence Entertainment, University of Nairobi. The team met at the Wangari Maathai Institute to plan for the tree planting exercise to be held on 20th  November, 2020 at the Wangari Mathai Institute and at the Vet Farm in Kanyariri. The exercise will involve staff and students from the University of Nairobi and Loresho Primary School.
