VISIT BY DANIDA CONSULTATIVE RESEARCH COMMITTEE FOR DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH

On Monday 8th January 2024, the Danida Consultative Research Committee For Development Research visited the Faculty of Vet. Medicine, where first they made a courtesy call to the Dean, FVM together with the heads of departments and Later in the afternoon, the team lead by the Dean, Faculty of Vet.Medicine visited the Flygene Project field site. 

GUEST LECTURE ON GROSS VETERINARY PATHOLOGY

The Department of Veterinary Pathology Microbiology and Parasitology , Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
University of Nairobi, hosted a guest lecture by Professor Craig Linden; a Prof of Pathology at University
of Tennessee on Thursday November 23, 2023 from 08:00am to 10:00 am. The lecture was about Gross
Pathology, techniques, lesion descriptions and necropsy tips. It was attended by 4 th and 5 th year
veterinary students and representative faculty. This lecture was illustrative, interactive and insightful

HEALTH SYMPOSIUM HELD AT FACULTY OF VETERINARY MEDICINE UON

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine hosted a One Health symposium on November 24, 2023 in the Seminar room Clinical Studies Department. The symposium innovatively brought together students from the Faculties of Veterinary Medicine and Health Sciences UoN to discuss Clinical case scenarios within the paradigm of one Health. The cases were covered in a two-way knowledge exchange platform that integrated group work and plenary case discussions that interfaced with Jeopardy game of categorized incrementally weighted question and answer. The symposium was graced by Prof J. D.

WEBINAR TO COMMEMORATE WORLD AIDS DAY 2023

The University, as its annual ritual, will commemorate World AIDS Day 2023. This year's theme, 'Let Communities Lead' will guide the conversations and activities that will be held. A Webinar has been organized on November 29, 2023 from 2:00pm-5:00pm.

THIKA T.T.I STUDENTS EDUCATIONAL TRIP 26-06-2023

Thika T.T.I. Students visited the Department of Vet.Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology on 26th jUNE 2023.

The Chairman of the Dept. and the Chief Technologist made a welcome remarks.

The students visited two sections i.e. Histopathology and Parasitology Sections.

In the two sections, the students were take through the following practical demonstration;

MANAGEMENT ENGAGES IN STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP

In an inspiring address to the University strategic planning committee at Sawela Lodge in Naivasha, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama's opening address set the tone for an invigorating and purposeful discussion, emphasizing the workshop's significance in shaping the  future of the University. With a commitment to guiding the formulation of the new strategic plan for 2023-2028, the Vice-Chancellor presented ten pillars that would shape the university's transformative journey.

OUTSTANDING STUDENTS RECOGNIZED AND AWARDED

In a first of its kind, the University of Nairobi held a students’ Recognition Award Ceremony to celebrate the outstanding students in various categories on Friday, May 5, 2023 at the historic Taifa Hall.

What made this edition of Recognition Awards special was the honour of not only outstanding academic performance but also Talent, Research and Publication, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Corporate Social Responsibility, Leadership, Volunteerism, Extra-curricular activities and Sports and Games.

UON COMPASSION DAY

The University of Nairobi, on Thursday, May 4, 2023 held the 2nd UoN Compassion Day themed ‘Give a Hand to that Needy Student’ in Taifa Hall, Main Campus from 11am to1pm. The event was meant to sensitize the University community and stakeholders on the need to support the less fortune and vulnerable students in the University.
