Monday 25th February 2026, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine was pleased to receive a delegation from the University of Liège, Belgium, for a courtesy visit aimed at strengthening academic collaboration and fostering institutional
partnerships.
The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research – Africa (WRAIR-A), through its Department of
Emerging Infectious Diseases, in collaboration with the Department of Veterinary Pathology,
Microbiology, and Parasitology – Microbiology at the University of Nairobi (UoN) and the
International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), has launched a regional study titled “One
Health Surveillance for Colistin Resistance in Priority Gram-Negative Bacteria across East
Africa.”
Prof. J.D. Mande, Dean Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 gave a an address to 2025/2026 first year students on in the Large Lecture Theatre, Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology, Chiromo Campus.
The Faculty Dean, Prof. John D. Mande was accompanied by the Chairmen of the 5 Departments in the Faculty, Chairman Department of Biochemistry (Service Department), the Faculty Registrar, Governor (UNSA) Upper Kabete Campus, Chairman of Veterinary Students Association (VSA), Chairman Wildlife Students Association (WSA) and non teaching staff.
On Monday 18th September 2025, The Faculty of Vet.Med was pleased to welcome the class of 2024/2025 KCSE first year students in BVM and Bsc.Wildlife Management and Conservation students at the Dept.of Vet.Anatomy and Physiology,Chiromo Campus.
The registration of the first year students was conducted by the Faculty Management Members led by the Dean, Prof J.D.Mande and the Associate Dean Prof Samuel M.Githigia.
In alignment with the National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign and in compliance with Presidential Directives aimed at growing 15 billion trees nationwide by the year 2032, the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology conducted a successful tree-growing exercise on May 9, 2025, at the Kanyari Veterinary Farm.
The University of Nairobi, Kenya and Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania through a
Research Grant from the World Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology, Africa
Network (WAAVP-AN) under the African Capacity Building Foundation is providing one (1) PhD
scholarship in Veterinary Pathobiology (Parasitology Option).
The successful candidate will register in the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nairobi.
The University of Nairobi, Kenya and Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania through a
