The University of Nairobi’s Institute for Development Studies (IDS) through its lead researcher, Prof.Karuti Kanyinga, are among the five winners of $500K in philanthropic funding support by the Carnegie Foundation for each collaboration focused on emerging trans-regional trends in Africa, the Middle East, and beyond.
The 3rd Research Week kicked off on a high note on October 12, 2020 with six conferences starting their proceedings. A total of 13 conferences will run during the weeklong event. Albeit, virtual, this year’s Research Week numbers are quite impressive: 868 global participants from academia, government and industry, 347 presentations and 40+ keynote presentations is quite a mean fete.
Representatives of Flemming fund, including members of Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation, visited the refurbished microbiology laboratory of VPMP department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Kabete, on 6th October 2020, to assess progress towards readiness for start of Antimicrobial resistance surveillance exercise. The visit was part of activities for the AMR poultry surveillance protocol dissemination workshop – Nairobi circuit which was held on 5-6th October 2020 at Limuru.
