WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2022 COMMEMORATION

The University Health Services has organized for the commemoration of the 2022 World Mental Health Day in tandem with the World Health Organization (WHO) calendar.

The 2022 (WHO) theme is “Making Mental Health and Well-being for all a Global Priority”. 

The event will be marked by various health promotion activities on Friday October 7, 2022 in the Chancellors Court from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm.

UON WEE HUB ADOPTS PRIORITY AGENDA 2022-2025

Tuesday July 5, 2022; the delegates officially adopted the 12 point priority agenda for Women Economic empowerment (WEE) 2022-2025, The Chief Guest Associate Vice Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Enterprise Prof. Margaret Hutchinson unveiled the Priority Agenda for Women Economic Empowerment and rallied the women delegates to take positions of leadership and decision making as well as be part of resource mobilization, distribution and utilization; saying “this agenda is informed by research and its going to liberate the African woman.

DRUG CHALLENGES IN HEALTH AND HUMANITARIAN CRISIS

The University of Nairobi (UoN) joined the world in commemorating the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (IDADA) on 24th June, 2022

The virtual event was held under the theme: Addressing drug challenges in health and humanitarian crisis.

In his address, UoN Vice Chancellor Prof. Stephen Kiama said the issue of alcohol and drug abuse is a reality at the University affecting both staff and students posing a risk to their livelihoods.

LAUNCH OF UON FOUNDATION

the official launch of the UoN Foundation is scheduled on Thursday,  30th June 2022 at the Chancellor’s Court from 5:30 pm. As a prelude to the launch, the UoN Foundation board of trustees will be hosting a dinner to raise the foundation’s seed capital at the Great Court on June 23, 2022.

UON STUDENTS FETED FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

over 907 young people received their Gold Award Certificates, 17 Award Alumni received Life Membership certificates during the President’s Award Kenya ceremony hosted by H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House Nairobi. 26 of these are UoN students.

President Uhuru Kenyatta commended young people who challenge themselves to do good within their communities through hard work and commitment.

We are all set - Vet first years attend their first Anatomy lecture session

After the orientation exercise, all was set for learning. The first-year veterinary medicine students started off with an introduction to veterinary medicine course that serves to build their foundation into the sophisticated world of veterinary medicine.

Students attend the Emerging Scientist’s Training and Workshop 2019

Two MSc. Students in Range Management, Edwin Maingi and Sylvia Muchiri, both from the department of Land Resource Management and Technology (LARMAT), were among students who attended a 10 day emerging scientist’s workshop in Oloisukut conservancy, Narok County.
