                        Advertisement for applications for scholarship and training in:

“Doctor of Philosophy in Aquatic Animal Health and Ecosystem Management” The offer background

The Enhanced Capacity for Aquatic Resources in East and South Africa (ECARESA) grant funded by NORAD and hosted at the above department wishes to recruit ONE applicant to be trained for the above named PhD degree programme in aquaculture. Following selection at University of Nairobi, the applicants will apply for admission at the hosting institution in Norway where the student will undertake coursework studies and upon successful completion, will return to Kenya to carry out his/her supervised research work. Thereafter, she/he will write thesis and defend in the Norwegian University.

 

The degree objectives:

The main objective of the degree programme is to strengthen academic staff capacity to teach, conduct research and disseminate information in aspects of aquatic health and ecosystem management.

 

Entry qualification:

Applicant are required to have the following minimum qualifications from recognized institutions:

Masters of Science degree in aspects of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology.

 

Application process:

This is an internal advertisement for University of Nairobi academic staff. Interested candidates are required to do the following:

Submit a concept note on his/her PhD project in aquaculture health indicating how it fits in climate change challenges in word and power point form

Write a brief testimonial on what motivates him/her to study aquaculture under such a programme

Indicate her/his qualifications and attach supporting documents and  degree transcripts

Attach a copy of curriculum vitae; Attach a copy of the National ID

These documents should reach the undersigned via email shown below with four hard copies sent to the Chairman, Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology in a sealed envelope labelled with the above advert title by 5.00pm on 27th May 2022.

 

Short-listed applicants will be called for an interview and only qualified candidates will be notified.
