The University of Nairobi Council on Monday 16, 2024 visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine to gain an in-depth understanding of its academic processes, research initiatives, and supporting infrastructure.
The Council was received by the Dean and Faculty management committee members, where the Dean introduced them to the council.
During the visit, they explored the faculty’s academic programs, and overall quality assurance mechanisms.
The Council visited Tana Kitchen, Tana A Women’s Hostel Dept. of Clinical Studies
In the Dept. of Clinical Studies, the Council assessed the supporting infrastructure, such as BVM 5 lecture theatre, Animal Health Innovation Lab and Diagnostic Laboratory, where they were able to see the technology and equipment used to support both teaching and research activities. The visit provided valuable insights into the faculty's strengths and potential areas for further development.
The Council Recommended that the Faculty having invested much in Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, establishment of different collaborations/partnerships, Industrial linkages and support for teaching and learning for Veterinary Medicine there is need to offer more support to the faculty to ensure its sustainability and positioning itself in the country and beyond.
The support includes and not limited to; painting of face of the Faculty and its departments, renovation of Department of Public Health, Pharmacology and Toxicology leaking roof, renovation of entertaining space (Common room) for students, Hostels repair (Tana A, Tana C, Tana B and Mandela wing a third floor, Mugabe eastern wing third and floor tiling and painting), Clinical Studies Replacement of BVM 5 lecturer theater Ceiling, sports; preparation of sports ground.
