In alignment with the National Tree Growing Restoration Campaign and in compliance with Presidential Directives aimed at growing 15 billion trees nationwide by the year 2032, the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology conducted a successful tree-growing exercise on May 9, 2025, at the Kanyari Veterinary Farm.
Dr. Davis N. Karanja, Chairman of the Department, led the initiative, joining department staff members in the exercise. This campaign is guided by circulars and executive orders relevant to the University’s 2024–2025 mandate, which require institutions to mobilize key stakeholders for at least three (3) tree planting/growing events annually. Additionally, each staff member is expected to grow a minimum of 30 trees per year.
On this day, the department collectively managed to grow 1,100 trees, working in collaboration with the Veterinary Farm Manager, Mr. Augustine Raila. This activity reflects the department’s strong commitment to environmental restoration and sustainability in line with national goals.
