The Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology has organized a Webinar on “Community Participation in One Health Research” on Wednesday, 10th May 2023 at 14.00 – 15.00 EAT.
Overview of the webinar:
Research funders evidence of an increased understanding that for research to have impact, it should be meaningful, acceptable, and relevant to the lives of the intended beneficiaries of the research. To achieve this, stakeholders and/or communities should be engaged throughout the research process, ideally working with the research team from conceptualization through to the dissemination of the research. This webinar demonstrates how a multidisciplinary team of researchers worked with a resource poor community of Kware village, Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County. Here they reflect on the challenges and rewards of working with people in the community on a one-health project exploring water, sanitation and hygiene between 2018 and 2023.
