1. Dr. Christine M. Mbindyo
Dr. Christine M. Mbindyo is a Ph.D student and a Consortium for Advanced Research Training in Africa (CARTA) fellow at the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology and Parasitology, University of Nairobi. She holds a Master of Science degree (MSc.) in Applied Microbiology (Bacteriology option) and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) both from the same institution. Her Ph.D research focuses on Milk Microbiome and Antimicrobial Resistance associated with clinical and sub clinical mastitis in dairy cattle in Kenya. She currently works as a Tutorial fellow in the Microbiology Section, Department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology, and Parasitology, in the same institution and her duties include; teaching and mentoring undergraduate students, bovine and poultry consultancy, and laboratory diagnostics. Her research interests are on Ruminant mastitis, Antimicrobial resistance, and zoonosis. Christine is also an Alumni of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Faculty Exchange Program (FEP).

2. Dr. Paul Onyango Okumu
Dr Paul O. Okumu is a tutorial fellow of Veterinary Pathology at the department of Veterinary Pathology, Microbiology, and Parasitology since joining the Faculty in 2012. He got a MSc. Degree in Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Diagnostics in 2014 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine (BVM) in 2011. He is currently undertaking his PhD studies in Veterinary Pathology and Diagnostics at the same department. His research topic is “The Role of Probiotics in Enhancing Gut Mucosal Immunity and Cephalosporin Resistance Genes”. The objective of his research is to develop a non- antibiotic alternative for use in enhancing livestock health and performance.
His career interest is host-pathogen interactions and response of animals against pathogens, Toxicologic pathology, and gastrointestinal tract infections of bacterial origin. He has received research grants and training fellowships from the National Research Fund (NRF) Kenya, Royal Academy of Engineering, and United States Department of Agriculture Faculty Exchange Program.
He is registered by the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB) and Kenya Veterinary association (KVA). Apart from teaching undergraduate classes and research, he also supports the Department in diagnostic services in veterinary pathology including large animals, small animals, poultry and emerging food animal disease diagnosis. He also has a passion for innovations and entrepreneurship.
3. Dr. Wanja Daniel Wambua
Daniel is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree (PhD) in Applied Microbiology-Bacteriology Option; having enrolled in the year 2019, under the registration number (J80/55717/2019). His PhD thesis is entitled “Prevalence, Molecular Characterization, Antimicrobial Resistance and Factors Associated with Campylobacter in Cattle, Chicken and Water in Kajiado County, Kenya”. In this, he aim to establish transmission dynamics (phylogenetic analysis) of Campylobacter spp. infection in livestock in relation to climatic changes and husbandry practices. He also intend to establish antibiogram and virulence potential of Campylobacter isolates.
Daniel holds a Bachelors of Veterinary Medicine (University of Nairobi, 2015), and MSc. in Health of Aquatic Animal Resources (Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania, 2018). His research interests include; food animal and fish microbiology (bacteriology, mycology and zoonoses), Antimicrobial Susceptibility. From his MSc thesis titled, “Occurrence, Antimicrobial Susceptibility and Risk Factors for the Transmission of Fish Bacteria in Small-Scale Farms in Kirinyaga County, Kenya”, Daniel have published five papers in referred journals and presented two conferences papers.
Daniel is a registered and retained Veterinary Surgeon with Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB). He is a member of the Kenya Veterinary Association (KVA).
Daniel currently works for Animal Health and Industrial Training Institute (AHITI), Kabete, as a Lecturer. He also work as a Part-time Lecturer at Meru University of Technology and Chuka University.
