YOUTH EMPLOYMENT AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT PILOT PROJECT

Dear Student,

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is pleased to inform you that the University of Nairobi has been selected, among a few African universities, to participate in a Youth Employment and Skills Development Pilot Project. In collaboration with LinkedIn Learning, the project plans to provide free employment-relevant online training to randomly selected students. The training is intended to help new university graduates’ success in the job market locally and internationally.

LinkedIn Learning is a leading online learning platform that provides access to thousands of courses developed by renowned experts. Several courses are covered under the pilot project, including data analysis (data analytics), digital marketing, financial analysis and budgeting, Information technology skills etc… which are in high demand by industries in Kenya and internationally. LinkedIn Learning is one of the most competitive tools to develop strong career skills and stay ahead of the competition. It is so flexible to learn and with the LinkedIn Learning app, you can view courses from your mobile device.

Project Details

  • Training duration: The training is expected to last for six months.
  • Certificate: Upon successful completion, students will be awarded a certificate of completion.
  • Eligibility and selection: Only final year undergraduate students who are on a path to graduation by December 2020 are eligible. Training spots will be allocated for randomly selected students based on lottery draws. 
  • Registration deadline14 August 2020.

The AfDB plans to make such training widely available to students in other universities across Africa. To this end, we would like to study the impacts of the training program on employment and career outcomes. Hence, we request eligible students to voluntarily sign up for a survey.
