VETERINARIAN WORKSHOP ON AQUATIC ANIMAL HEALTH AND FISH WELFARE.

The Department of Vet. Pathology, Microbiology & Parasitology held a 5-day Veterinarian capacity-strengthening Workshop from 17th August to 21st August 2026 at Clinical Studies Seminar room.

The workshop was officially opened by Prof. Jackson Ombui, Dean, Faculty of Vet. Medicine. Also Dr. Karanja, Dr. Mulei and Prof. Waruiru were also present

The Purpose of the workshop was to seek collaboration between One Health and Development Initiative (OHDI) and the University of Nairobi seeks to strengthen the knowledge and practical capacity of veterinarians to contribute to aquatic animal health and welfare in Kenya and to support stronger integration between veterinary, fisheries and other relevant stakeholders.

During the 5 days’ Veterinarian workshop, there were lecture presentations by various facilitators and also Field trip to Fish center at Sagana where the workshop participants were exposed to lab practical demonstrations on Fish rearing, breeding and Fish Necropsy.
