UON AWARDED FOR EXCELLENT GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP

University of Nairobi was officially handed over a trophy for the award of Huawei Outstanding Partner award. The awardees were officially announced on September 22 2020 at the Huawei Partner’s Night during the virtual HUAWEI 2020 CONNECT EVENT held in Beijing, China. The event was held virtually for the first time due to Covid-19 concerns.

UON SCHOLAR WINS TOP WTO AWARD

chool of Economics Scholar, Socrates Majune, has won a top award by the World Trade Organization (WTO) after his policy paper emerged best among dozens drawn from around the world.

Mr. Majune, a tutorial fellow and PhD candidate has now made history by becoming the inaugural winner of the 2020 Trade Economist Thematic award, a new research focused competition.  The young scholar beat 26 other contestants to the award which also comes with a monetary reward of Kshs. 620,000.

UON DON CROWNED WITH MBS IN FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19

Dr. Loice Ombajo, a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi (UoN) was awarded State commendation by President Uhuru Kenyatta during this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations in Nairobi.

Dr. Ombajo was awarded Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) for her dedicated public service and sacrifice in the fight against COVID-19 in Kenya.

2 HONORARY DEGREES, 5709 GRADUATES AT THE 64TH GRADUATION CEREMONY

The Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi has conferred honorary degrees of the University of Nairobi on Prof. Julia Ojiambo, Chair of Council and Prof. Micere Mugo at the 64th Graduation Ceremony. The two have now joined the list of eminent persons who have received the prestigious award bringing the number of honorary degree holders of the University of Nairobi to 35. In addition, a record 5,709 have been conferred degrees and awarded diplomas at the graduation ceremony held on December 11, 2020 at the Great Court, Main Campus.
