FLEMMING FUND PROPOSAL WRITING

Representatives from Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), Centre of disease control (CDC), Family Heath Initiative International (FHI; NGO) and from University of Nairobi, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Prof. Bebora and Prof. Mitema), having a meeting for Flemming Fund Proposal writing. 

The First meeting on writing of proposal for Flemming fund held on 23.4.2019 at the Dean’s boardroom, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Attendance included 3 members from Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), one from Centre of disease control (CDC), one from Family Heath Initiative International (FHI; NGO) and two from University of Nairobi, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (Prof. Bebora and Prof. Mitema).

The Flemming fund – Country grant will support surveillance of antimicrobial resistant bacteria in Kenya. The fund will be provided by the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), under its Flemming Funds Grants Programme, which is managed by Mott MacDonald group of consultants. One of its objectives is to support the Tripartite Alliance of Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), World organisation for animal health (OIE) and World Health organisation (WHO, through funding; thus contributing towards development of National Action Plans (NAPs) in sub-Saharan Africa, South and South-East Asia, and to the building of the evidence base and guidelines for antimicrobial resistance surveillance, targeting capacity gaps identified in the NAPs.
